Which love language test should you take?
The five love languages come from Dr. Gary Chapman’s book The 5 Love Languages®. There are many quizzes built on the idea. Here is how the official one and Love Mismatch differ, and when each is the better choice.
The official quiz (5lovelanguages.com)
- Made by the publisher of the original book, so it follows Dr. Chapman’s framework directly.
- The basic quiz is free.
- A paid Premium Assessment, described as a 15-page personalized relationship roadmap, was listed at $39 (on sale from $55) when we checked.
Love Mismatch (this site)
- Scores how you want to receive love and how you naturally give it separately, because the two rarely match, and that gap is often where couples keep arguing.
- The test and the full report are free: all five scores for both receiving and giving, with a confidence rating.
- Partners can compare results side by side, to see where each person’s needs meet or miss the other’s way of giving.
- No account and no email. Your answers stay in your browser.
- Optional AI-written guides: $9 for one person, $19 for a couple, one-time.
When to choose which
- Choose the official quiz if you want the original quiz from the book’s publisher, or its Premium Assessment roadmap.
- Choose Love Mismatch if you want to see the difference between how you give and how you want to receive love, compare with a partner for free, or keep your answers private on your own device.
- Plenty of people take both. They measure related but different things.
